Self Reflection

1. Overall, do you feel that you have successfully balanced the technical (skill-based) and conceptual (idea-based) aspects of your work?
Yes I feel that I have balanced the technical and conceptual aspects of my work. Each of my pieces (even from my old concentration) stay within my new concentration of portraits and I am proud of the painting I have done, even my looser painting of the mountain.

2. Of the four pieces you created this term, which one do you feel was most successful and why? Which piece did you enjoy making the most, and why?
I feel that either my kiss from Hilary Duff, my biker girl, or my mountain are my most successful pieces. I know it isn't decisive but its hard to choose among those three. The mountain was definitely the mot enjoyable piece to make because I was so loose about it! I really enjoyed it!

3. What have you learned about your own working methods since we began in September? Specifically, address your time management, creative process, and material preferences.
I have learned that I need to be more patient when painting because it will turn out okay. Also, I have learned when staying after school is necessary to finish a piece and where to get inspiration from for creating a new piece.

4. What direction do you see yourself taking in term 3?
I see myself staying in the same direction I have been going in, which is a mix of realistic paintings and loosey paintings like the mountain.

5. What is one goal you hope to accomplish as an artist before the end of the year? This could be a technique to try, to master, or an ambitious piece you have been wanting to do but have had reservations about, etc.
One piece I would love to do is a portrait like the Chuck Close fingerprint one we saw in DC but I don't even know how to go about doing that...who knows though. Maybe I will be able to do it....I hope I can!
