  1. Lauren, excellent ideas! I think the first four are the clearest to me and seem to have the most substance. I worry about you becoming disheartened by the subject of the fifth idea, though I know there are many issues worth addressing out there. I have also noticed that sometimes students feel detached from big global issues. I think the more personal and closely linked you are with your theme the stronger it will be. as I am sure you know by now I am a big fan of the portrait. You can approach this timeless subject in a trillion ways and still have it be universal and high impact. Overall I think #s 1 &3 sound the strongest conceptually. I like the challenge of you somehow making the "invisible visible" with these two themes, maybe using intimate portraits to communicate your ideas.

  2. I like your idea of insecurities. There are many ideas out there that are possible for this specific topic. People have plenty of insecirities that they are embaressed by. My concentration from last year, the pressure to be perfect, ties in with this and I was inspired by many of the girls in our society today. It's easy to relate to your work as well as using other people perspectives of the way they feel. I think that people will be inspired to see work of their own insecurities being created to see that there are other people going through the same situation as them.
