Concentration

1. Truths
2. Hidden patterns (in nature or more obvious things, but also in more symbolic things (patterns in life)).
3. Symbolism
4. Landscapes
5. Phobias
Picture refers to a more obvious idea of a pattern.

  1. Maggie, these are all excellent ideas, and I think any if them could be developed into a successful concentration project. I have student examples from a phobia project I did years ago I can show you. I think it would be great to see you revisit your success with printmaking as a medium for at least one piece.
I am very interested in learning more about the "truths" topic and the symbolism theme. Especially in our current technologically saturated/digital world, more and more things are being converted to symbols and representations and the "real" things are becoming obscure. I see a possible overlap there. It would be intersting to try and fuse the landscape and patterns themes as one topic. Check out Richard Diebenkorn's work.

  2. The hidden patterns will be very interesting! I think that you will have a lot of brainstorming to do but it has the potential to have an incredible outcome.

Maybe you could combine the Symbolism or Truths with the Hidden patterns idea. I think that could be really cool!

  3. Out of your topics, I really liked them all so it is hard to pick, but I think truths is the most interesting and would give you the widest variety of different pieces you could do that would express what you're intending to say about your concetration. You could also do like contrasts of truths and lies when your expresses truth, so you would have so many awesome options!

  4. Magsss, i really like your idea of the hidden patterns you can explore many different ideas in that! I also really like the phobias idea, there are so many interesting phobias; more obvious ones such as insects and more comical or odd phobias. There are many fears and phobias out there. (including elevators- mine! haha)
