  1. 1. How did the artist use the elements and principles of design?
Texture Contrast - There are a lot of textures in the piece, which makes it strong.
Line Balance - The piece is balanced very well. It is symmetrical geometric.
Color Emphasis - The colors are bright, and they really pop.

Are any in particular used more effectively than others?
I think the texture contrast is especially strong.

Would inclusion or greater attention of any of the above improve the piece in your opinion?
No, I think they are all executed well.

    2. Is this piece….

    Abstract Figurative Non-Figurative

I think this piece is a combination of abstract and figurative art. It is figurative in the sense that it is based off of the Empire State Building, which is a real object. However, the background more closely resembles an abstract piece of art.

    3. Interpretation (your opinion): What do you think the artist was trying to communicate with this piece? What questions, if any, do you have about this piece?
I'm not sure the artist was trying to communicate anything in particular. My only question is why the background colors were chosen.

    4. Read the artist’s concentration statement from the last post. Do you feel that a clear connection can be made between the piece and the central idea of the artist’s concentration statement?
I think a connection can be made but there isn't an obvious message being communicated. I know the purple and white from his NYU acceptance letter, which is definitely and vivid and fond memory.

    5. In your opinion, what are the strengths of this piece?
I think the building is executed with great detail, and its colors work well together.
The irregular shape also catches the viewer's eye.

    6. In your opinion, what could make this a stronger piece?
I think the background needs something in order to make the piece really pop.
