Concentration Revison

I am changing my concentration to emotions. The subjects of my concentration won't be limited to specific subjects, but my goal is to convey a very specific emotion through the way I present the art. For example, I will convey the emotion through the particular subject of the piece that I choose, the lightning, the perspective, or the colors used for example.

  1. 1. I think Lauren did a really good job to create texture in her piece. The panda’s fur looks very realistic and that s very hard to do considering she used acrylic paint. Also, the shadow under the school bus looks very good and creates value. In addition, Lauren’s successful execution of the pandas contribute to color scheme and attention to detail.

    2. I would think that Lauren’s piece is classified as figurative because the subject is derived from real, representational sources.

    3. I think Lauren was trying to portray attachment and the emotions that come with this subject. Though this piece, she represented a significant event in a child’s life, when they go to school for the first time. The baby panda is close to the mom, showing that maybe he/she is insecure and afraid. I think she is trying to have the viewer’s reflect on how they felt going through a similar experience.

    4. Yes, I think this piece matches the concentration statement perfectly. It depicts emotion through various elements on the piece such as: subject, contrast and color.

    5. I really like how detailed the pandas, specifically the fur. I also like how instantly the viewer can understand the context and purpose of the painting.

    6. I kind of wish the bus was more in the background so you can 1) pay more attention to the pandas and 2) it seems more accurate. In reality, the pandas would not be as big as the bus unless the bus was much further in the distance.
